Summary
The documentation is heavily oriented toward Windows environments, specifically focusing on Data Protection Manager (DPM), a Windows-only backup tool. All examples, screenshots, and instructions assume the use of Windows Server, SQL Server on Windows, and DPM. There is no mention of Linux-based SQL Server deployments, nor are there any examples or guidance for backing up SQL Server on Linux. The only automation reference is to PowerShell, which is Windows-centric.
Recommendations
- Add sections or examples for backing up SQL Server running on Linux, using Azure Backup or other supported tools.
- Mention Linux-compatible backup solutions (such as MABS, Azure Backup for Linux, or third-party tools) where appropriate.
- Provide parity in automation examples, such as Bash scripts or Azure CLI commands, alongside PowerShell.
- Clarify in prerequisites and supported scenarios whether Linux-based SQL Server deployments are supported or not, and link to relevant documentation if they are.
- Include screenshots or walkthroughs for Linux environments if supported.
