Summary
The documentation is heavily biased toward Windows environments. All instructions, prerequisites, and examples assume the use of Windows Server (2019/2022), Windows file paths (C:\, D:\), and Windows-specific tools (PowerShell, .NET Framework, SQL Server). There are no references to Linux or macOS environments, nor are there alternative instructions for non-Windows platforms. The installation and operational procedures are exclusively Windows-centric, making it impossible for Linux/macOS users to follow or complete the task.
Recommendations
- Explicitly state that Azure Backup Server is only supported on Windows, if that is the case. If Linux/macOS support is possible, provide equivalent instructions for those platforms.
- Add a section clarifying platform requirements and limitations for non-Windows users.
- If any components (such as Recovery Services vault management) can be performed from Linux/macOS, provide CLI or portal-based instructions that are OS-agnostic.
- Where PowerShell is used, offer Azure CLI or REST API alternatives where possible.
- Avoid assuming Windows file paths and tools; mention alternatives or note platform restrictions.
