Running `azcmagent` commands returns this error: `Failed to validate owner of \\.\PIPE\himds. Error Code: %!s(uintptr=2). Error: The operation completed successfully.` The `himds.log` file also shows this error: `Encountering an error listen tcp [::1]:40342: bind: An attempt was made to access a socket in a way forbidden by its access permissions.. Calling ListenAndServe for retrying` To temporarily restore functionality, roll back the agent or run the following repair command: ```powershell Start-Process msiexec.exe -Wait -PassThru -ArgumentList  '/fa "C:\Temp\AzureConnectedMachineAgent.msi" /qn /norestart /L*v "C:\Temp\himds-wfp-repair.log"' ``` > [!NOTE] > This repair is temporary because the device path can change between reboots. The fix is planned for the azcmagent version 1.69 release. #### Linux Systemd binds the IPv6 ports, but in some cases, the lack of an IPv6 address on an active interface causes HIMDS to assume that IPv6 loopback is disabled. To work around this issue, edit the `himdsd.service` configuration by running: ```bash sudo systemctl edit --full himdsd.service ``` Replace the existing `Sockets=` line with: ```ini Sockets=himdsd.socket himdsd-https.socket ``` Then apply the configuration and restart HIMDS: ```bash sudo systemctl daemon-reload sudo systemctl mask --now himdsd-ipv6.socket himdsd-https-ipv6.socket sudo systemctl restart himdsd.service ``` After verifying HIMDS is running correctly, restart the Extension Service: ```bash sudo systemctl restart extd.service ``` ## Version 1.67 -
